Atlantic White Cedar

Woodlife Workshop uses Atlantic White Cedar Atlantic White Cedarfor all of our outdoor furniture. Why? Because the alternatives are not acceptable. Teak, Mahogany, and other rain forest woods deplete the last remaining rain forests in Central American jungles. They are also unnecessarily overpriced and weather comparably to Atlantic White Cedar.

Western Red Cedar is prone to blackening, causing a buildup of slippery algae-like oxidation, which stains and is unappealing.

Redwood is a beautiful wood for outdoor use, however few sequoia trees remain. The wood is also too soft to hold screws and bolts properly. Redwood decays quicker that Atlantic White Cedar.

Beware of cedar substitutes- if it doesn't smell like cedar, it's not.
